Youth Is Not a Limitation, It Is an Advantage.

What you see as your weakness God sees it as your strength :-)

Often times when I ask a young person why don't he give his life to Christ, the typical response is usually, "No I am too young", "No I am not ready as yet" or "When I get a bit older then sure". I then begin to wonder why wait, when now is the best time. The bible says in John, "Young man I call upon you because you are strong". Yet the mindset of the young people is, not now but later. However, at a youthful age the brain is at its best. This notion was supported by Gould and Skye (2017), they asserted that scientist reports conveyed that the entire brain processing ability and detail memory reaches its maximum point in a human around their late teens (par. 5). Furthermore, they went ahead to explain that learning names that are not familiar peaks at the age 22 (par.6). They went on to state more advantages of a young brain further down in their article. Young people, those are biblical and scientific evidence that our youth is an advantage. What could still be holding us back? Let us even examine the obvious, we are generally easier to move around than older folks. There is no question to it, younger people are usually easier to learn, adapt to changes, have stronger physical strength and are much more mobile than older folks.

With these advantages of youth, why is being young still deemed as a limitation by us? Moreover, we say things like, I do not know what to say or I do not know what to do? Youths! God convicts and calls us young people but then we still try to find means to discredit ourselves; and usually our main factor is because we are too young. God however, does not see it as a disadvantage and this truth is illustrated in many stories of the bible.

Like Jeremiah

There is a young man in the bible by the name of Jeremiah; he was called by God to be a prophet to a group of people. He too like these young people saw his age as a limitation. When God called him out, he responded to God and said, "I don't know how to speak..." because he is only a c.... Guess what he said? Take a wild thought what his response to God was. Yes, you got it right that’s exactly what he said; child. Jeremiah told God that he does not know what to say because he is only a child. He did not know what to say nor what to do, however, God had his back. God told him that he will give him the words to speak all he will have to do is open his mouth. Fortunately, God is the same towards the young people today. Some of the youths find all the excuses they can to disqualify themselves. However, as a worldwide known leader, Pastor Mike Todd said, "God does not call those who are qualified instead he qualifies those who answer the call". So yeah, maybe you are able find a whole lot of excuses to make yourself be deemed as beneath the standard of which a Christian should be; using even specifically your age and not seeing the benefits of it but that's not how it should be. I am here to let you know; God does not see that as a limitation he sees it is an advantage. It shows how much you need more of him and less of yourself. Majority of the time why people fail to do what they ought to do as a Christ advocate is due to the dependence on their flesh and not the instructions of the Holy Spirit. One who realizes that in flesh he is weak will easily understand where the strength will come from; and that is in Christ Jesus.

Let us arise and acknowledge God's ability!

If only us young people would realize that God is omnipotent- all powerful, then we will understand that God has the power to do anything and with a profession of acceptance it can be released into our lives. This means the most powerful being in existence before time and forevermore will have you in his favour. Furthermore, if we also realize that he is Omniscient; then in knowledge we will lack nothing, for he said ask and it shall be given. Not to mention his Omni-presence, he is everywhere; no matter where you go, he is there. How far or how high it matters not; for there is no space that he cannot inhabit. He is the “God of the high hills and even the low valleys”. It is kind of funny how you always hear these "church terms" used but not many persons know exactly what they mean; but let me tell you the Genesis of that title, it will give you a revelation. In the book of Kings, there was an army prepared to fight; this army was in the favour of the God of the universe, the Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent God. The army defeated their enemies while on the hills and their enemy saw this so they assumed that these people’s God was only of the hills. They limited the power and the presence of God. As a result, they waged war in the valleys thinking God will not favour his people there, but instead God did indeed favour them in the valleys as well. God is not limited to a specific space on the very earth he himself created. He is present anywhere and is always ready to be in support of his people. David said in Psalms, “If I climb to the sky, you're there! If I go underground, you're there!”

It is him and not us!

Therefore let us not put our confidence in ourselves but place it in God for faith in him is sturdy grounds. Let us shift our focus from our capabilities and place them on God's ability. God uses people who you will never expect. He used David, a young man disregarded by his entire family and only seen as the little Sheppard boy. He made him into more than that. David became the second and one of the greatest well-known Kings of Israel. Josiah was only eight years old and he was called to be a King; and he reigned excellently. Samuel, another young man given to God from he was weaned by his mother. He grew side by side the priest until he eventually became the High Priest in Israel and was known to be one of the most esteemed prophet throughout the entire Israel from Dan to Beersheba. These people were young and they realize that their age might have been a prime factor of limitation. However, God sees it as an advantage because our dependence will not be on ourselves but instead on him. Let us too adapt such a mentality. Let us strive to see ourselves through the eyes of God and place our dependence on him and not our own strength or capabilities.

Youth, yes you! Are you ready to step out in faith?

-Yes you are
